Benha University's origins trace back to 1911 with the establishment of an agricultural school in Moshtohor, which later became part of the university's Faculty of Agriculture. In 1976, a presidential decree formalized the creation of Benha University as a branch of Zagazig University, encompassing faculties such as Commerce, Education, Agriculture, Engineering, and Medicine. By August 1, 2005, it achieved independence as a standalone university.
