About University

The history of our university dates back to the Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which was established within Balıkesir University with the law numbered 3897 dated July 3, 1993 and started education with the Departments of Economics and Business Administration on October 18, 1993. In the same year, Bandırma Vocational School started education and in the following years Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School and Bandırma Health School started education and training activities within Balıkesir University. As a result of the needs of the region and the intense demand of the local people, our university was established as the second university of Balıkesir with the law numbered 6640 dated April 23, 2015. 

The name of our university comes from September 17, 1922, the day when the last bullet was fired against enemy forces in Bandırma during the War of Independence and when it was confirmed that our independence would be preserved forever.

Our university, which was established with the transfer of well-established educational institutions such as Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Bandırma School of Health, Bandırma Vocational School, Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School and Gönen Geothermal Institute, which continue their education-training activities under Balıkesir University, and experienced academic and administrative staff, has taken its distinguished place in the field of higher education with the slogan "A Bridge Opening to the Future". Our university continues its education-training and research activities with 12 faculties, 1 institute, 1 college, 8 vocational schools and 17 application and research centers in 11 campuses in total. As of 2024, our university has 21,545 students (2,000 of whom are international students) at associate, undergraduate, master's and doctorate levels and 1,010 academic and administrative staff. The following units were included in the Law No. 6640, which established our university:

• Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Maritime Affairs, Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, Bandırma Vocational School, Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School,  Institute of Postgraduate Education.

After its establishment in 2015, our university has added many new academic units to the units listed above in a short period of time. These are as follows:

• Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Agriculture and Justice Vocational School, Vocational School of Health Services, Maritime Vocational School, Bandırma OSB Technical Sciences Vocational School, Susurluk Vocational School of Agriculture and Forestry.

Contamination in Heat Exchangers: Types, Energy Effects and Prevention Methods

Exchangers are thoroughly used equipment for heat transfer. These equipment play a climacteric role in variegated business administration and buildings by providing heat exchange between two fluids. However, over time, exchangers can be subject to variegated problems such as contamination and sediment build-up. This can diminish heat transfer efficiency, leading to energy waste and equipment malfunctions. Calcification is a problem that comes off when water becomes saturated with hard minerals and exceeds the solubility of these minerals. These... minerals precipitate as a consequence of water evaporation or chemical reactions and form a solid layer called limestone. Limescale can bring variegated problems in homes, business administration, and water transportation systems. Lime accumulates on heat transfer superficies, reducing the superficies area of ​​these superficies. This reduces the superficies area available for heat transfer and inhibits heat transfer. The thermal conductivity of lime is lower than water. Scale, which is the formation of a scale layer on heat transfer superficies, reduces the thermal conductivity of these superficies and prevents heat transfer. This study focuses on the types of contamination in heat exchangers, the effect of contamination on heat transfer and other factors, and methods of clogging.
