• Yuer Yang was born in Yingcheng, Yingde, Qingyuan, Guangdong, China in November 2000. He received his double bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Economics) from Jinan University in June 2023, honored as the Excellent Graduate, the Star of Jinan, and the Extraordinary Undergraduate. He majored in Cyberspace Security and minored in Finance, where his thesis on Cyberspace Security was rated as an excellent thesis of Jinan University. In the first clearing round of 2023 Fall, he was admitted to The University of Hong Kong as a full-time Ph.D. student with Postgraduate Scholarship (PGS). He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. study at Department of Computer Science, The University of Hong Kong, supervised by Prof. Siu-Ming Yiu (Deputy Head of Department of Computer Science, The University of Hong Kong; Executive Director of HKU-SCF FinTech Academy, The University of Hong Kong) and Prof. Tak-Wah Lam (Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering, The University of Hong Kong). Currently, he is interested in Malware Detection (Major), Algorithm Optimization, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cryptography, and Halloysite.

Mr. Yang has had 48 academic papers published or accepted so far, including 15 as the (co-)first author and 14 as the (co-)corresponding author. His Google Scholar citations exceed 155. The cumulative impact factor of the journals in which the journal papers are included exceeds 65. He helped review 115 papers (141 rounds) for 36 journals and 15 international conferences, serving as a chair in 3 international conference workshops and a technical committee member in 1 international conference. He owned 11 granted intellectual property rights. He has finished 1 national, 2 provincial, and 5 university-level research projects, 2 of which were certificated excellence-class. He won 31 competition awards, particularly including the first national gold medal for Jinan University in The 7th China International College Student "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which is the top one among all the domestic higher education institute student entrepreneurship competition events in China. He has 28 honors, including the National Scholarship, the National Outstanding Artistic Talented Student, the Excellent Student of The First Training Course for The Guangdong Digital Government Construction Talent Training Program (Academy of Political Culinary) of Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Public Services and Data Management, the Arowana Scholarship, the Excellent Student of Jinan University twice, and the Excellent Student First Prize Scholarship of Jinan University twice. He has served in 22 student leadership positions and has volunteered more than 200 hours with more than 80,000 CPC points. He has 12 internship, work, and visiting experiences in total. He was involved in the product testing of the Micropoint Proactive Defense Software and was responsible for maintaining the JiQuan WeChat applet. He once worked for Managed Security Service (MSS) in Qi An Xin Technology Group Inc. and visited Macao as one of the members of the Excellent Student Group of Macao Visiting. He obtained a score of 105 (R29 + L28 + S20 + W28) in TOEFL and a score of 329 (V159 + Q170 + AW4.0) in GRE.
