バイオグラフィー

I am Lilit Zakoyan. I was born on April 4, 1982 in Kamo, Armenia. I have dedicated most of my life to research and teaching.
My academic journey has been dynamic and enriching, taking me to different countries and institutions, each offering unique opportunities for growth and knowledge. My academic journey begins with a solid educational background, including a doctoral degree in comparative-historical, contrastive and typological linguistics at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University). In my research project, I investigated the features of verbal and non-verbal aggression in English and Russian languages and also explored the concept of aggression in the language consciousness of native speakers of both languages.

My educational background also includes a Master's degree in English language from Yerevan State University, Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, and a Bachelor's degree in English language and literature from the same institution in Yerevan, Armenia. My passion for unravelling the intricacies of language and human communication has driven me throughout my life.

As of November 2022, I am based in Riga and have been living in Latvia for almost 8 years. In Riga, Latvia  I am currently working as an assistant professor and researcher at Riga Technical University and RTU Latvian Maritime Academy, which is affiliated to Riga Technical University. In this role, I have the privilege of lecturing professional English. As a lecturer of English for Special Purposes, I work with students from departments such as Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technologies, Railway Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

My expertise also extends to maritime English, English for engineering, English for Mechanics and English for scientific purposes. In addition to teaching, I have been involved in a number of research projects, including my current researcher’s position in Green Diving Project. This project aims to improve green skills, sustainability and the attractiveness of maritime vocational training.

My commitment to higher education has been unwavering throughout my career. Prior my current job at Riga Technical University, I was an assistant professor, guest lecturer and head of student recruitment at the Latvian Maritime Academy. Here I had the opportunity to teach Maritime English, English for Engineering and English for Scientific Purposes.

At RUDN University I have also made significant contributions as a Ph.D. research Supervisor and Advisor. My responsibilities include the supervision of future doctoral degree students at the Institute of Foreign Languages and the promotion of academic excellence.

My career has been a tapestry of experiences, and I had the privilege of working as an Associate Professor and Guest Lecturer at the Baltic International Academy in Riga, Latvia, where I worked in the Department of Translation and Interpreting. But, my academic journey began in Yerevan, Armenia, where I worked as an associate professor and lecturer of English language at the Faculty of Romano and Germanic Philology of Yerevan State University. Along with my postgraduate studies, in Moscow, Russia, I worked as an English language lecturer and advisor to the Vice-Rector for International Academic Cooperation and Studies at the Peoples' Friendship University in Russia. I have always been passionate about the world of linguistics and its impact on human communication and am grateful for the opportunities I have had to share my knowledge and experience with students around the world.
